Follow-up email automation in Gmail that stops when they reply

Innmail automates follow-up emails in Gmail: after your first email you can add up to four follow-ups, each sent in the same thread a set number of days after the previous one, and all of them stop as soon as the person replies. You never have to remember who to nudge.

Why manual follow-ups slip

Plenty of unanswered emails are not a no. They are buried. Following up by hand means a spreadsheet of dates, searching your Sent folder, and the nagging worry of nudging someone who already replied. After a busy week, the follow-ups simply do not happen.

Automation fixes the remembering, not the writing. You still decide what each follow-up says.

How follow-up automation works in Gmail

In a campaign, write the first email and add up to four follow-ups. For each, choose how many days after the previous email it waits. Follow-ups are sent as replies in the same Gmail thread, so the person sees the whole conversation in one place.

Innmail watches your mailbox over IMAP. When a reply arrives, that contact's remaining follow-ups are cancelled. Bounces are caught the same way. Follow-ups also respect your sending window and daily cap.

What to write in each follow-up

Good follow-ups add something. The first can restate the ask in one line. A later one can share something new: a short result, a relevant link, a smaller ask. The last can close the loop politely and say you will not write again.

Keep them shorter than the first email. Because they sit in the same thread, you do not need to repeat context.

Automated, but not careless

The first email in each campaign waits in the review queue for your approval, and a send reservation means no step is ever sent twice to the same person. Anyone who unsubscribes or bounces goes on the suppression list and stops receiving follow-ups for good.

Frequently asked questions

How many follow-ups can I automate?

Up to four after the first email, so five steps in total. You set the number of days each one waits after the previous email.

Do follow-ups stop automatically when someone replies?

Yes. Innmail detects replies from your mailbox over IMAP and stops the remaining follow-ups for that person.

Will follow-ups show up in the same Gmail thread?

Yes. Each follow-up is sent as a reply in the original Gmail thread, so the recipient sees one conversation.

Can I follow up on an email I already sent by hand?

Follow-ups run inside Innmail campaigns and direct sends, so the first email needs to be sent through Innmail for it to track the thread and the reply.

Does follow-up automation work outside Gmail?

Yes. Over SMTP and IMAP, follow-ups use standard reply headers so they thread in most mail apps, and replies still stop the sequence.
