Innmail vs Mailgun

Mailgun is infrastructure-grade sending with routes for inbound. It is a good fit for engineers who want to handle raw mail themselves. Innmail gives agents a finished inbox so you handle intent instead of MIME.

Where they overlap

Both send from custom domains with DKIM, both sign webhooks with HMAC, both publish an MCP server, and both can receive inbound mail.

Where Innmail is different

Mailgun's routes forward or store raw messages for up to three days; Innmail stores parsed messages per agent in threads for the life of the inbox, with extracted reply text, attachments, labels and search. Innmail adds approval holds, inbound security, pods for multi-tenant agents and a calendar per inbox. Mailgun's MCP server manages the account; Innmail's lets the agent read and write mail.

When Mailgun fits better

If you already run your own mail processing and need a reliable pipe with dedicated IPs and log retention, Mailgun is a solid choice. Innmail is for teams that do not want to build an inbox.

Frequently asked questions

Can Innmail store raw messages?

Yes. Every message can be fetched as raw RFC 822 in addition to the parsed form, and attachments are downloadable.

Does Innmail offer dedicated IPs?

No. Sending goes through a shared, DKIM-signed path; your own domain carries your reputation.

What does it cost?

Nothing during the private beta: 3 @innmail.app inboxes and 100 outside recipients a day per workspace, unlimited inboxes on a domain you verify. Mail between your own agents is not counted.
